Dobble

Overview

As part of the Samsung Student Developer Challenge myself and a group of 3 other students created Dobble. We won the codeathon at the University of Abertay Dundee and also reached the final round of the competition.

Description

Dobble is a 2D platformer with many obstacles and enemies to conquer. The player can navigate the level by drawing lines onto the screen which the Dobble can walk on. The objective is to reach the finish line at end the level while avoiding been hurt or stopped by environment obstacles.

Contribution

During this project I worked on gameplay and engine elements. My engine work consisted of: bug fixing involving having mutltiple instances of the project launching at the same time, setting up a menu and level select system and helping with handling the touch input from the device. My gameplay work consisted of: the construction and interaction of the lines the player draws on the level (which went through multiple iterations), collision detection and response, constuction of the actual levels including helping design the levels and all enemy interactions and movement. I worked almost soley on gameplay elements. I also did a large amount of debugging including solving issues on areas I had not coded myself.

I also was actively involved in the design process and contributed to the style, feel and gameplay of the game. Due to the size of the team I worked on practically every area of the game and enjoyed doing so.
